Medical Description
Cofdex syrup is used to treat dry cough and irritation in the throat. It contains bromhexine, dextromethorphan, and ammonium chloride as active substances. Cofdex syrup works by suppressing the cough centre in the brain. It also helps to loosen the phlegm and mucous from the respiratory pathway and facilitates its removal.
This medicine is contraindicated in children below 6 years of age. Avoid driving and handling any machinery because this medicine can make you feel dizzy and drowsy. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

- Cofdex syrup is a combination of three active ingredients - bromhexine, dextromethorphan, and ammonium chloride.
- Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent which relieves cough by thinning and loosening the phlegm from the airways and facilitating its removal.
- Dextromethorphan is an antitussive medicine that suppresses the cough center of the brain responsible for the cough.
- Ammonium chloride with its irritative action acts on the cells which leads to the production of fluid in the airways that helps in the removal of the phlegm or the cough.
