Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Cyclosporine increases the blood level of Brufungin Powder For Injection and has been linked to temporary rises in liver enzymes (ALT and AST). The two are used together only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk, and liver tests are monitored.
- Brufungin Powder For Injection reduces the blood level of tacrolimus. Tacrolimus blood levels should be monitored and the tacrolimus dose adjusted as needed.
- Rifampin (a strong inducer of liver enzymes) reduces the level of Brufungin Powder For Injection.
- Other enzyme inducers such as efavirenz, nevirapine, phenytoin, dexamethasone, or carbamazepine may lower Brufungin Powder For Injection levels.
- Brufungin Powder For Injection must not be mixed or infused with other medicines. Diluents containing dextrose (glucose) must not be used.
- Patients should tell their doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, and herbal products they are taking before and during Brufungin Powder For Injection treatment.
