Azilox capsule is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for chest infections such as pneumonia, as well as sinus, ear, throat, lung, and skin infections. It is also effective in treating certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including gonorrhoea and chlamydia. The active ingredient in Azilox capsule is azithromycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria responsible for the infection.
It is very important to take Azilox capsule exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Even if you start feeling better within a few days, do not stop taking the medicine on your own. Completing the full course of treatment ensures that the infection is completely cleared and helps prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
Like most medicines, Azilox capsule may cause some side effects. The most common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, and indigestion. - Low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood.
- You experience allergic symptoms such as flushing, swelling, rash, fever, and breathing difficulty.
Directions for Use
- Azilox capsules can be taken with or without food. Take them regularly, and do not miss any doses of this medicine. If you have a sensitive stomach, it is preferable to take them with a meal to avoid stomach discomfort.
- Follow your doctor's instructions when taking this medicine. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, and do not cut, break, or chew them. For optimal results, take the medication at the same time every day. Do not exceed the dosage prescribed by your doctor and complete the full course of this antibiotic medicine as instructed.

- Do not take any medicine on your own without confirming with your doctor during treatment with Azilox capsule. Antacids should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the antibiotic.

Interactions with other medicines
- To avoid any possible interaction, tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take.
- Medicines used for migraine headaches, such as ergotamine, should not be used concomitantly with Azilox capsules.
- Medicines used to reduce stomach acid levels, such as antacids, should be taken with a minimum gap of at least one hour with Azilox capsules.
- If you are taking medicines like cisapride (used to treat symptoms of heartburn or acid reflux), you may experience irregular heart rhythms. Other medicines, such as digoxin (used for heart conditions), colchicine (used for the treatment of gout), immunomodulators such as cyclosporin, blood thinners such as warfarin, and anti-allergic medicine such as astemizole, should be used cautiously.
