Ingredients and Benefits
- Vitamin A/retinol is involved in the proper maintenance of eye health, heart and blood vessel health and skin nutrition. They are potent antioxidants.
- Vitamin E/tocopherol is an antioxidant. It protects your body's cells from the harmful effect of free radicals. It also increases your immunity, strengthens your body's natural defence system and helps you fight against illness and infection. Vitamin E/tocopherol also improves the texture of your skin, hair and nails.
- Vitamin B1/thiamine stimulates nerve cells. It provides the nerve cells with the energy they require to function properly and maintain their health. Additionally, it is essential for energy metabolism and consequently for cell growth, development and function.
- Vitamin B2/riboflavin functions as a neuroprotective by preventing damage to the nerves caused by free radicals and other chemicals. It has a significant impact on how cells work, grow and develop, as well as how lipids, medicines and steroids are metabolised in the body.
- Vitamin B9/folic acid is crucial for the growth and regeneration of the nervous system as well as for repairing nerve damage.
- Vitamin B3/nicotinic acid is necessary for energy transfer reactions. Additionally, it is necessary for chemicals that are engaged in vital cellular processes such as the preservation of genomic integrity, regulation of gene expression and cellular communication. It also plays a crucial part in maintaining the antioxidant activity of cells. Vitamin B3/niacinamide also helps to maintain the proper degradation and synthesis of fatty acids, carbohydrates and amino acids.
- Vitamin B5/pantothenic acid is necessary for the manufacture of acetylcholine, mucopolysaccharides, steroid hormones and cholesterol. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism.
- Vitamin B6/pyridoxine helps to repair nerve signals. It ensures that nerve fibres can adequately transmit signals. Additionally, vitamin B6 helps in the production of certain molecules that the nerves need to transmit signals from the brain to the body's cells. It also serves as a cofactor for a large number of enzymes that either synthesise or break down amino acids.
- Vitamin B12/methylcobalamin is essential for the functioning of the brain and nerves, for the production of red blood cells and for DNA synthesis. It also plays a major role in protein and fat metabolism, fertility and the functioning of various hormones.
- Vitamin C/ascorbic acid is an antioxidant that helps the body to produce other antioxidants. It protects molecules in the body, such as proteins, lipids (fats), carbohydrates, DNA and RNA, from damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species. It has anti-inflammatory activity and also helps in wound healing. Additionally, it is necessary for the manufacture of collagen, which is an important structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and bone. It is also required for the synthesis of carnitine, a small molecule that is necessary for energy production. Vitamin C plays an important role in immune function and enhances the absorption of nonheme iron.
- Manganese is involved in the metabolism of amino acids, cholesterol, glucose and carbohydrates, as well as in reducing the damaging reactive oxygen species. It is also required for bone formation, reproduction and immunological response. Along with vitamin K, manganese contributes to your body's natural reaction to an injury that helps to stop bleeding and blood coagulation.
- Zinc is a mineral that plays a role in immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis and cell division. Additionally, zinc is necessary for a healthy sense of taste and smell and helps with normal growth and development.
- Copper is required as a cofactor for several enzymes involved in energy production, iron metabolism, neuropeptide activation, connective tissue synthesis and neurotransmitter synthesis. Additional physiological functions of copper include the regulation of gene expression, formation of new blood vessels, the balance of hormones produced by nerve cells, brain development, pigmentation and immune system performance. Additionally, copper has an indirect role in the defence against oxidative damage.
- Selenium helps to prevent oxidative damage by making special proteins called antioxidant enzymes. It ensures that the skin remains firm and protected. Selenium also helps to protect against ultraviolet rays and pigmentation. Selenium is essential for reproduction, synthesis of genetic material and metabolism of thyroid hormones. It also protects against infection.
- L-lysine is an essential amino acid required for proper growth. It is crucial for the production of carnitine, a nutrient required for energy production. It helps in calcium absorption and may prevent bone loss associated with osteoporosis and other bone diseases. Additionally, lysine helps in the production of collagen, which is necessary for the growth of bones and connective tissues, including skin, tendons and cartilage.
