Interactions with other medicines

  • Concomitant use of lithium and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors may cause an increase in serum lithium concentrations and toxicity
  • Concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics may increase potassium levels in the blood
  • Concomitant use of NSAIDs and angiotensin II receptor antagonists may lead to an increased risk of the renal functioning
  • Co-administration of corticosteroids with diuretics leads to increased activity of corticosteroids
  • Co-administration of certain NSAIDs may reduce the diuretic and antihypertensive efficacy of chlorthalidone
  • Anticholinergic agents increase the bioavailability of thiazide-type diuretics
  • Concomitant treatment with cyclosporin increases the risk of hyperuricaemia and gout-type situation
