Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

The active ingredient of the Arip Mt tablet is Aripiprazole. This medicine acts on various chemical substances present in our brains, like dopamine and serotonin. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters and transmit messages between brain cells. An imbalance in these substances causes schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. People with schizophrenia may experience symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and hostility that are classified as positive symptoms. They may also experience negative symptoms like lack of emotion and social isolation. These symptoms are mostly due to excess dopamine in certain brain areas. Aripiprazole blocks the dopamine receptors in these areas and prevents overactivity. This helps control the positive symptoms of the disease. Other symptoms such as memory loss and poor attention are due to a decrease in dopamine in other areas of the brain. In these areas, Aripiprazole stimulates dopamine receptors.
