Uses
- Amitar Plus tablets are used to treat depression associated with anxiety.
Contraindications
- Do not take Amitar Plus tablet or use caution:
- If you have amitriptyline/chlordiazepoxide hypersensitivity or an allergy to the other ingredients in the Amitar Plus tablet.
- If you use monoamine oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or have used them in the last 14 days.
- If you had a recent myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Side effects
- Side effects of Amitar Plus tablets include:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Headache
- Confusion
- Aggression
- Decreased libido
- Orthostatic hypotension (decreased blood pressure when you stand suddenly)

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Amitar Plus tablets can cause adverse reactions when taken with the following medicines:
- Interaction with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like moclobemide and selegiline can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.
- Interaction with opioids like morphine and hydrocodone can increase the risk of respiratory problems and sedation because of additive central nervous system (CNS) depressant effects.
- Interaction with class Ia and III antiarrhythmics like quinidine and antipsychotics like pimozide can increase the risk of QTc prolongation or ventricular arrhythmias.
