Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Amipox tablets are known to interact with the following medicines.
- Taking Amipox tablets with antidepressants like fluoxetine, paroxetine, etc., can increase serotonin levels and cause serotonin toxicity, a condition with severe side effects that may result in death.
- Avoid other medicines that cause drowsiness like antihistamines (cetirizine), cold and cough medicine, opiates or narcotic pain relievers (codeine, tramadol), muscle relaxants, etc., with Amipox tablets. These medicines can raise the side effects of Amipox tablets and cause extreme drowsiness.
- It can be dangerous to use anti-anxiety and mood disorder medication (linezolid, moclobemide, selegiline, etc.) with the Amipox tablets, as they can cause severe effects. They stop serotonin metabolism and can result in serotonin levels that are high enough to cause serotonin syndrome with life-threatening symptoms.
- If you have any bleeding issues or take blood thinners like warfarin, use caution when taking Amipox tablets, as this medicine increases the risk of bleeding.
- If you are already on antiepileptic medicines like phenytoin and carbamazepine for seizure disorders, inform your doctor as these medicines can increase the side effects of Amipox tablets.
Interactions with food items
- Avoid grapefruit and its juice while on treatment with Amipox tablets. This fruit can increase the levels of this medicine in the blood.
