How Does It Work?
Dexamethasone+Chloramphenicol is a combination of Dexamethasone and Chloramphenicol. Dexamethasone is a steroid that is an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic medicine. It prevents the release of chemical substances that cause inflammation. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that halts or stops the growth of bacteria (bacteriostatic) by interfering with the essential bacterial cellular processes.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor about any other medicine, supplement or OTC products you are taking.
- If you use another eye drop product concomitantly with Dexamethasone+Chloramphenicol, keep a minimum gap of 15 minutes between the application of two medicines.
- Inform your doctor if you are on medicines like methotrexate (used for treating cancer), azathioprine (used for treating immune system disorders).
- Caution should be exercised while using medicines like Timolol, betaxolol, levobunolol (topical beta-blockers used to treat high pressure in eyes) along with Dexamethasone+Chloramphenicol as there may be a risk of the calcium phosphate settling on the surface of the eye.
- Concomitant use of Dexamethasone+Chloramphenicol along with ritonavir or cobicistat, may increase the amount of dexamethasone in the blood causing undesired effects.
Dosage
Overdose
As Dexamethasone+Chloramphenicol is intended to be used externally, the chance of overdose is less likely. Nevertheless, if you accidentally add more drops and then experience worsening symptoms like increased pain, inflammation, irritation and burning in the eyes or swelling, you are advised to visit your doctor or nearest hospital immediately.
