This medicine is useful for the treatment of high blood pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs i.e., pulmonary arteries.
Uses
Ambrisentan is useful for pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs).
Contraindications
When should one not use Ambrisentan
- Do not consume if you are allergic to Ambrisentan or any ingredient of this medicine
- Do not consume if you have scarring of the lungs (Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis)
- Do not consume if you are pregnant

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Ambrisentan blocks the action of Endothelin-1 (natural substance that causes blood vessels to narrow) by binding to endothelin receptors and relaxes the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs, thus increasing the supply of blood to the lungs.
