Medical Description
Zegerd oral powder is used to lower excess stomach acid in stomach ulcers, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It contains a combination of omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate. The omeprazole in it blocks the stomach's acid pump, while sodium bicarbonate neutralises acid around omeprazole so it can pass through the stomach and work in the intestine. The powder is mixed with water or milk, stirred and consumed immediately on an empty stomach as directed by a doctor. It is given by mouth and should be used only for the condition for which it was prescribed.
