Sorafenat tablets belong to the group of anti-cancer medicines. Primarily treating the cancers of the kidney, thyroid, and liver is the main use of Sorafenat tablets. Tumours or cancers happen when h
ealthy cells of the various organs become malignant (cancerous) and grow in an uncontrolled manner. The active component of this medication is Sorafenib. Omeprazole is an antacid, and Domperidone prevents nausea and vomiting. The mode of action of Sorafenat tablets is to block the activity of various enzymes, which lowers the growth and multiplication of tumour cells. It also stops the spread of tumour cells. Weight loss, decreased appetite, stomach and abdominal pains, high blood pressure, etc., are some of the most common side effects of Sorafenat tablets. Follow your doctor’s directions for using the Sorafenat tablet. Do not stop using this medicine without consulting your doctor. Before taking it, tell the doctor about any heart disease, liver, or kidney problems. Many other medicines can affect or be affected by this medicine so let the doctor know the patient's complete medical history. It is not recommended in pregnancy or during breastfeeding.

Uses of Sorafenat 200 MG
- As per CDSCO and USFDA, Sorafenat tablet is indicated for the treatment of the following condition:
- It is indicated for the treatment of liver cancer carcinoma in cases where surgical removal is not possible.
- In the treatment of advanced-stage renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer).
- In various types of locally recurrent or metastatic, progressive, differentiated thyroid cancer that didn't respond to radioactive iodine treatment.
Contraindications of Sorafenat 200 MG
- If you have a history of serious hypersensitive reactions to Sorafenib or other similar medications. Serious reactions require immediate emergency treatment with supportive measures.
- If you are using other types of anti-cancer medications such as carboplatin or paclitaxel.
- If you are having a sudden heart condition such as heart attack, congestive heart failure, or any cardiovascular event.
- If you are experiencing severe bleeding or have a history of a bleeding disorder.
- If you have a history of high blood pressure. Monitor blood pressure weekly during the first 6 weeks and regularly thereafter.
- If you have severe or persistent skin conditions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis are suspected.
- If you have a stomach or intestinal perforation.
- If you have a heart rhythm disorder such as QTc prolongation. Regular monitoring is required for people who are at risk.
- If you are diagnosed with liver failure due to medications.
- If you are currently expecting or planning to get pregnant.

- You have a severe kidney or liver illness.
- You have a history of myocardial infarction (blockage in the arteries of the heart).
- You are using blood thinners such as warfarin.
- You recently had surgery and have wound healing complications.
- You have any type of seizure disorder and are currently under treatment for it.
- You are an elderly patient over the age of 65.
- You have fluctuating levels of blood glucose or are a diabetic patient.
- You experience any weight loss, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black coloured stools.
- You are at risk of aneurysms or other blood vessel disorders.
- You are using thyroid replacement therapy along with treatment for thyroid cancer.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Sorafenat 200 MG
- Take Sorafenat tablets just as the doctor prescribed to you.
- Do not change the dose of Sorafenat tablet, even if you do not see its effects.
- Swallow this pill as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break or chew it.
- It is better to not take it with other medications without informing your doctor.
- Do not use Sorafenat medicine if its packaging has been already opened.
- Do not suddenly stop taking the Sorafenat tablet, as it can cause adverse effects from withdrawal.
- Try to take these without food (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating) to prevent low absorption of the medicine.
Interactions of Sorafenat 200 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Using Sorafenat tablets within five days of administration of rifampicin results in a decrease in the levels of Sorafenat tablets, which lowers their effectiveness.
- It is not recommended to use other anticancer medicines such as paclitaxel and carboplatin along with Sorafenat tablets. Studies have shown that levels of all these medicines are increased, which can cause severe side effects....
- Other medications such as St. John's wort, phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, and dexamethasone may also increase the metabolism of Sorafenat tablets and thus decrease its concentrations.
- Inform your doctor if you are taking blood thinners such as warfarin with Sorafenat tablets. Patients should have their INR (test to check the time for the blood to clot) checked regularly.
- Using Sorafenat tablets along with digoxin can increase the plasma levels of digoxin, which can lead to several side effects such as confusion, dizziness, etc.
Interactions with food items
- Avoid any foods that increase the sense of nausea or vomiting, such as meat, fish, eggs, or dairy, while using Sorafenat tablets due to their strong odour.
- Food also lowers the absorption of Sorafenat tablets, resulting in a decrease in its effectiveness.
