Senex 5 MG Description
Senex Tablet is a prescription medication that is used to treat moderate to severe dementia of the Alzheimer’s type. Alzheimer's disease is a neurological disease that causes memory loss (dementia) a
nd slowly destroys the ability to learn, communicate, and handle daily activities. Senex Tablet contains Memantine as an active ingredient. Memantine blocks the action of a natural chemical substance (glutamate) in the brain that is believed to be linked to memory-related symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and hence helps improve Alzheimer’s condition. Senex Tablet dosage should be taken as per the doctor’s prescription. There are also some side effects associated with this medicine, so dosage must be carefully monitored. Do not stop taking Senex Tablet suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it can cause clinical worsening of your condition or symptoms might return.

- As per CDSCO and USFDA, Senex Tablet is used to treat moderate to severe dementia of the Alzheimer’s type.
Contraindications of Senex 5 MG
- If you are allergic to any of the components of Senex Tablet, i.e., Memantine.
- If you have a heart condition like heart failure, angina etc.
- If you have a history of epilepsy.
- If you have urinary problems.
- If you have severe liver or kidney impairment.
- If you are pregnant and a lactating mother.

Mode of Action of Senex 5 MG
How Does It Work?
Senex Tablet contains Memantine- 5mg as an active ingredient. Memantine belongs to the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist class of medicine. It works by blocking the action of NMDA receptors and regulating the production of glutamate, which results in decreased brain abnormal activity. Glutamate is a chemical substance in the brain that is believed to be linked to memory-related symptoms of Alzheimer's disease....
Directions for Use of Senex 5 MG
- Take the Senex Tablet as prescribed by the physician.
- Senex Tablet can be taken with or without food or as prescribed by the doctor.
- Take Senex Tablet on a regular schedule, preferably at the same time every day.
- Take the whole tablet orally with a glass of water. Do not break or chew the tablet.
- Do not take Senex Tablet with other medications without consulting your doctor.
- Don’t exceed the dosage of Senex Tablet on your own, even if you cannot feel its effects.
Interactions of Senex 5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Use of Senex Tablet with other NMDA antagonists like amantadine, ketamine, and dextromethorphan, should be avoided as it may lead to increased side effects.
- Administration of Senex Tablet with the antispasmodic agents (dantrolene or baclofen) can modify their effects.
- Senex Tablet interaction with medicine like cimetidine, ranitidine, procainamide, quinidine, quinine and nicotine can lead to increased plasma levels of Memantine.
- Co-administering Senex Tablet with hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) may lead to reduced serum level of hydrochlorothiazide (HCT).
Storage and disposal of Senex 5 MG
Store Senex Tablet away from sunlight in a cool and dry spot. Make sure that medication is out of reach from children and pet animals. Keep your tablets in their original packing until it is time to take them.
Do not flush Senex Tablet down into the toilet or throw away the medicines via household waste. Do not use Senex Tablet after the expiry date, which is stated on the label. Dispose of the expired medicine immediately....

Overdose
Overdose of Senex Tablet can result in symptoms like drowsiness, confusion, tiredness, weakness, diarrhoea, vomiting, vertigo, agitation, slowed heartbeat, aggression, hallucinations, double vision and walking difficulty. If you experience any of these overdose symptoms, immediately seek emergency medical treatment from a nearby hospital....
Missed a Dose
If you’ve missed a dose of the Senex Tablet, take it as you remember. However, If it's already time to take the next scheduled dose, then take the next scheduled dose and skip the missed one. Do not double doses as it can cause overdose side effects. Talk to your doctor if you keep missing the dose regularly....
