Medical Description
Rojuzda powder for injection is a medicine known as an erythroid maturation agent. It contains luspatercept, which is a protein that helps red blood cells mature properly in the bone marrow.
It is used in the management of anemia (low red blood cell counts) in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes ( a group of bone marrow disorders, who need regular blood transfusions). It is also used in the management of anemia in patients with Beta Thalassaemia.
Rojuzda powder for injection works by binding to certain proteins involved in blood cell development, helping the bone marrow produce more mature red blood cells and reducing the need for transfusions.
It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse in doses prescribed by your doctor.
Rojuzda powder for injection can cause side effects like tiredness, headache, bone or joint pain, dizziness, high blood pressure, and swelling. It may also raise the risk of blood clots particularly in patients with beta thalassemia. Inform your doctor about any history of blood clots, high blood pressure, enlarged spleen or liver and about all the medicines you are currently taking, before starting treatment
