Medical Description

Risdone Forte Tablets belongs to a class of medications called antipsychotics. They contain risperidone along with trihexyphenidyl as the chief ingredients. They are used to treat schizophrenia, symptoms of mania in bipolar disorder, aggressive behaviour in children and patients of Alzheimer's disease. It works by correcting the balance of certain chemicals in our central nervous system responsible for the aforementioned conditions. It should be taken with precaution only after consultation with a doctor as dose adjustments may be needed in some patients from time to time depending upon the conditions for which they are using this medication. Patients with ailments of heart, kidney, liver or conditions like diabetes or blood pressure should talk to their doctor before using this medication. This medication can be taken on an empty stomach. However, if the side effects of these medications worsen, consult your doctor immediately.

How Does It Work?

Risdone forte contains two chief ingredients, namely risperidone and trihexyphenidyl. Risperidone helps decrease the serotonergic and dopaminergic activity in our central nervous system. It helps provide relief from the symptoms of mood disorders and schizophrenia. On the other hand, Trihexyphenidyl belongs to a class of medications called antimuscarinics. They work by correcting the imbalance of certain chemicals in our central nervous system; as a result, it helps in the treatment by reducing symptoms of Parkinson's disease and other side effects of antipsychotic treatment.

  • Side effects of risdone forte tablets may increase by Benzodiazepines.
  • Acalabrutinib may decrease the metabolism of risdone forte tablets.
  • Abiraterone decreases metabolism.
  • Alclofenac may decrease blood pressure.
  • Amphetamine may reduce the effectiveness of risdone forte tablets.
