Medical Description

Ramhop capsule is a prescription medicine used to treat high blood pressure and support treatment that lowers cardiovascular strain. It contains ramipril, which relaxes and widens blood vessels by reducing a body chemical that normally tightens them. This lowers blood pressure and can reduce the heart's workload, helping suitable patients reduce cardiovascular risks such as heart attack or stroke and manage heart failure. Ramhop capsule is taken by mouth with water, with or without food, exactly as prescribed.

Uses

  • High blood pressure: Ramipril relaxes blood vessels, helping lower pressure and reduce the heart's workload.
  • Heart attack risk reduction: In suitable patients, treatment can lower cardiovascular strain and reduce the risk of a heart attack.
  • Stroke risk reduction: Long-term control of high blood pressure can reduce the chance of a stroke in appropriate patients.
  • Heart failure: Ramipril may reduce the workload on the heart and support the treatment of heart failure.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not take it. Do not use Ramhop capsule during pregnancy. Do not use it if you previously had swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat with ramipril or a similar blood-pressure medicine. Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, narrowing of the kidney arteries, low blood pressure or high potassium.

Side effects

  • Dry cough: Ramipril can cause a persistent tickling cough that does not produce mucus; tell your doctor if it continues or disturbs sleep.
  • Dizziness: Blood pressure may fall too much when treatment starts or changes; sit or lie down if light-headed and seek help if you faint.
  • Headache: Changes in blood pressure may cause head pain early in treatment; seek urgent care for sudden severe headache or weakness.
  • Tiredness: Lower blood pressure can make you feel weak or unusually tired; tell your doctor if it limits normal activity.
  • Face or throat swelling: Ramipril can rarely cause swelling of the lips, tongue or throat; stop taking it and get emergency medical help immediately.

Overdose

An overdose may cause severe dizziness, fainting, slow heartbeat or very low blood pressure. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Ramipril blocks an enzyme that helps produce a body chemical that tightens blood vessels. With less of that chemical, blood vessels relax and widen, reducing blood pressure and the strain placed on the heart.
