Procto Clysis Enema

• Procto Clysis Enema Enema is a laxative (bowel cleanser) used for providing relief from constipation.
• It can also be given by your doctor or nurse for bowel cleansing before procedures like endoscopy, bowel surgery or X-ray examination.

• If you are allergic to sodium phosphates or any other ingredient of Procto Clysis Enema Enema.
• If you have a blockage in the intestines.
• If you have a condition where the movement of food through your intestines is temporarily paralyzed (paralytic ileus).
• If you have a narrow or incomplete anal or rectal opening.
• If you have a swollen large bowel (megacolon).
• If you have an intestinal disorder called Hirschsprung's disease where you have problems with passing stools normally.
• If you have symptoms that may suggest of appendicitis, holes/piercings in the intestine or stomach or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
• If you have a heart disorder where your heart is unable to pump blood efficiently.
• If you are dehydrated.
• If you are less than 3 years of age.
• If you have bleeding from the rectal area that is not yet diagnosed.
• If you are taking other medicines or preparation containing sodium phosphates.

• These side effects are very rare and seen in very few individuals:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Itching
• Diarrhoea
• Rectal irritation

Other General Warnings

• You are feeling nauseous, vomiting, or having abdominal pain. Do not use Procto Clysis Enema Enema unless recommended by your doctor.
• You have any condition that may make you dehydrated.
• You are taking medicines that increase your urine output (diuretics,), medicines for the management of high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors like enalapril, angiotensin receptor blockers like losartan), or medicines for the management of pain, fever, and inflammation (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines like aspirin). If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
• You are elderly or a child.
• You are physically weak (general debility).
• You have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• You have a condition where fluid collects in your abdomen.
• You have heart or kidney disorders.
• You have ulcers or fissures in your rectal area.
• You had an operation called colostomy and are taking medications for the same.
• You are taking medications that may cause changes in your heart's rhythm. If you are not sure what these medications are, please confirm with your doctor.
• You have an electrolyte imbalance.
• You encounter resistance when trying to insert the enema.
• You develop rectal bleeding after using Procto Clysis Enema Enema.
• You do not feel like evacuating even after 10 minutes of using this medicine. Talk to your doctor immediately.

• Procto Clysis Enema Enema should be used exactly as directed by your doctor.
• Wash your hands before and after using this medicine.
• Lie on your left side with both knees bent and your arms in front of you at rest.
• If necessary before insertion, the enema may be slightly warmed in a water bath.
• Gently insert the enema into the rectum with the tip pointing towards your navel.
• Squeeze the bottle and insert the liquid.
• Gently remove the enema nozzle from your rectum. Some leakage of the medicine contents may occur.
• Remain in the same position until the urge to evacuate your bowels is strong.

• Store Procto Clysis Enema Enema in a cool and dry place below 25°C away from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Overdose

• Symptoms of an overdose of this medicine include electrolyte imbalance.
• If you think you have used too much of Procto Clysis Enema Enema, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

• If you missed using Procto Clysis Enema Enema, use it as soon as you remember.
• Do not use double to compensate for the missed application.

How Does It Work?

• Procto Clysis Enema Enema is given through the rectal route. It allows fluid to accumulate in the lower bowel and causes feces to swell and become large. It also causes wave-like contractions and bowel movements which causes the fecal contents to be removed from the body.

Interactions with other medicines

• Some medicines can affect the way Procto Clysis Enema Enema works or this medicine itself may interfere with the working of other medicines.
• Inform your doctor about all other medicines, herbals or supplements that you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
• Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines for the management of high blood pressure (calcium channel blockers), fluid accumulation (diuretics), mental disorders (lithium) and other medicines that may cause electrolyte imbalance in the body.
• Do not take any other preparations or medicines containing sodium phosphate (oral solutions or tablets) along with Procto Clysis Enema Enema.
