• High blood pressure: High pressure may have no clear symptoms but gradually strain blood vessels; this combination lowers readings when one medicine alone is insufficient.
• Cardiovascular risk reduction: Maintaining controlled blood pressure helps protect the heart, brain and circulation from complications such as heart attack and stroke.

• Dizziness: Blood pressure can fall when treatment starts or when you stand quickly. Sit down until steady and rise slowly to prevent a fall.
• Tiredness or weakness: Changes in blood pressure or body salts can reduce energy. Tell your doctor if weakness is marked, persistent or accompanied by cramps.
• Nausea or diarrhoea: Stomach upset or loose stools may occur while the body adjusts. Drink fluids as advised and seek advice if you cannot keep fluids down.
• Back pain: Back discomfort can occur during treatment. Tell your doctor if it is severe, persistent or associated with urinary changes.
