Medical Description

Nine 10 syrup is used to relieve symptoms of the common cold, flu and upper respiratory allergies, including fever, aches, sneezing, watery eyes and a blocked or runny nose. It contains a combination of chlorpheniramine, paracetamol and phenylephrine. Chlorpheniramine reduces allergy symptoms, paracetamol lowers fever and eases pain, and phenylephrine reduces swelling in the nasal passages to improve breathing. Nine 10 syrup is used by mouth with the measuring device supplied with the pack, according to medical advice. It provides symptom relief and does not replace evaluation when symptoms are severe, prolonged or unusual.

Uses

  • Nasal congestion: A blocked nose can make breathing uncomfortable; phenylephrine shrinks swollen nasal tissues, helping air pass more freely.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Chlorpheniramine blocks histamine, a body chemical that causes sneezing, itching, watery eyes and a runny nose. Paracetamol reduces chemical signals involved in pain and fever. Phenylephrine narrows swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing congestion. Together, the ingredients relieve several cold and allergy symptoms.

Interactions

Some medicines can affect the way Nine 10 syrup works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, monoamine oxidase inhibitors can cause a dangerous rise in blood pressure with phenylephrine; blood pressure medicines may not control pressure as expected; antidepressants may increase side effects or alter its effects; other antihistamines and sedatives may add drowsiness; and other paracetamol-containing products may cause excess paracetamol exposure.
