Medical Description

Mannitol 20% Infusion consists of 20% of mannitol in water, a diuretic that helps increase urine production in people with kidney disorders. It is an intravenous solution administered into the vein.

Storage and disposal

  • Store at a temperature between 20°C - 30°C.
  • Do not remove the outer plastic bag until use.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Discard the medication past the expiry date following safe disposal protocol.

Overdosing is rare as the medication is administered in a healthcare facility with close medical monitoring. However, please watch for the following signs of overdose and immediately report to the healthcare provider. The signs include headache, shortness of breath, acetone smelling breath, swelling of the abdomen, drowsiness, headache, shivering without fever, nausea, confusion, fits or reduced consciousness.
