Storage and disposal

Store Macsart at room temperature, below 30 degrees celsius, away from direct light and moisture. Keep it in its original pack and out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use the tablet after its expiry date, and dispose of any unused medicine safely.

Quick Tips

  • Keep taking it even if you feel fine, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms.
  • Stand up slowly to avoid feeling dizzy.
  • Avoid salt substitutes that contain potassium unless your doctor says otherwise.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose may cause severe dizziness, fainting, or a very slow or fast heartbeat. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

Blood pressure medicines work best when taken regularly. If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Macsart contains telmisartan, which blocks a natural chemical in the body called angiotensin that tightens blood vessels. With this chemical held back, the blood vessels relax and widen, so blood flows more easily and blood pressure comes down. Easier blood flow also means less strain on the heart.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Macsart works, and Macsart can affect how other medicines work. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins or herbal products you are taking or have recently taken. In particular, let your doctor know if you take other medicines for high blood pressure, water tablets, potassium supplements or salt substitutes, painkillers such as ibuprofen, heart medicines such as digoxin, or medicine for mood conditions that contains lithium.

Interactions with food items

Foods that are very high in potassium and salt substitutes that contain potassium may raise potassium levels in your blood while you take Macsart. Ask your doctor how much is safe for you.
