Lacalm Plus Tablet Description

Lacalm plus tablet is a prescription medicine used for managing symptoms of schizophrenia (a mental disorder), Parkinson’s disease (a central nervous system disorder that causes movement problems and

tremors), and anxiety. Lacalm plus tablet is a combination of two active ingredients: trifluoperazine and trihexyphenidyl. Trifluoperazine belongs to the class of antipsychotic medications. It blocks certain receptors and improves behaviour and mood. However, it causes side effects like involuntary shaking of limbs and muscle spasms. Trihexyphenidyl is added to this medicine to prevent and manage these side effects. You can take a Lacalm plus tablet with or without food. You can take a Lacalm plus tablet with or without food. You should take this medicine just as prescribed by the doctor because it can cause side effects. Most of these side effects do not require any medical intervention as they subside gradually. However, if you are experiencing them for a long duration, consult your doctor. Also, do not suddenly stop using this medicine as it can cause sweating, nervousness, vomiting, dizziness, etc.

Uses of Lacalm Plus Tablet

  • As per CDSCO, Lacalm Plus tablet is used for,
  • Managing symptoms of schizophrenia as an antipsychotic medicine(reduces strong and inappropriate symptoms, disturbed/unusual thinking, etc.).
  • Treatment of symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease (reduces involuntary movements)
  • Treatment of neurosis(a mild mental disorder) as psychoneurotic medicine.

Contraindications of Lacalm Plus Tablet

  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Lacalm plus tablet.
  • If you are pregnant. This medicine can have serious side effects on the unborn baby, especially in the third trimester.
  • If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Lacalm plus medicine.
  • If you have severe central nervous system depression (reduces central nervous system functionality of breathing).
  • If you have narrow-angle glaucoma(increased pressure in the eye), this medicine worsens the condition.
  • If you are suffering from conditions such as tardive dyskinesia ( involuntary movements of the face).
  • If you are a patient suffering from dementia (memory loss), this medicine can increase the side effects and cause death. Dose adjustment is required.
  • If you are a child below 18 years of age, do not use this medicine without consulting the doctor.
  • If you have a urinary problem, this medicine can worsen the condition.
  • If you have infectious diarrhoea, Lacalm plus tablets make the elimination of bacteria difficult.
