Medical Description

Kesol Injection contains potassium chloride for intravenous administration which is used to replenish defeciency of potassium in your body and is helpful to treat the symptoms like irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, vomiting, etc. caused due to drop in blood potassium levels. This injection should be taken on doctor's advise only.

Uses

For the treatment of low levels of potassium in blood (hypokalemia).

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient mentioned in this medicine. If you have high levels of potassium (Hyperkalemia).

How Does It Work?

Kesol Injection is a sterile medicine containing potassium chloride for intravenous injection which is given for fluid and electrolyte replacement in case of potassium deficiency (hypokalemia) which may lead to irregular heartbeats, weakness and muscle cramps. This medicine brings blood potassium levels to a normal range and offers relief in symptoms of potassium deficiency.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Concomitant use of this medicine and medicinal agents which have a tendency to increase potassium levels (Hyerkalemia) such as waterpills like spironolactone, blood pressure lowering medicines like captopril, eprosartan and immune system supressing medicines such as cyclosporine, should be avoided as it can lead to increase of potassium levels at a very alraming rate.
  • Concomitant use of this medication with medicines that lower the sodium level (Hyponatremia) should be avoided as this medicine further lowers thr sodium levels.
  • Discuss with your doctor about any other medicine, herbal preparation, and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any possible drug interactions.
