Contraindications
- If you are allergic to penicillin or any other ingredient of Kaypen Tablet.
- If you are allergic to other beta-lactam antibiotics like cephalosporins. If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
- If you have a severe acute infection.

- You have a history of allergies to other medicines like cephalosporins.
- You have asthma or are likely to develop hay fever, rhinitis or asthma.
- You have any illness or stomach/intestinal disorder that causes frequent nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.
- You have a history of antibiotic-associated inflammation of the colon.
- You are taking potassium-containing medicines or potassium-sparing diuretics.
Directions for Use
- Take Kaypen Tablet as a whole with sufficient water.
- Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- Do not consume more than the prescribed dose.
- Do not discontinue the medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

- Store Kaypen Tablet in a cool and dry place below 25°C.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.

How Does It Work?
- Kaypen Tablet binds to certain proteins in the bacteria called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This prevents the formation of the bacterial cell wall and causes the death of infection-causing bacteria.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Kaypen Tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Kaypen Tablet should not be used together with antibiotics that only prevent the further growth of bacteria like tetracyclines, erythromycin, chloramphenicol and sulphonamides.
- Medicines used for treating gout (probenecid, sulfinpyrazone) may increase the action of this medicine.
- There may be an increased risk of toxicity when Kaypen Tablet is used with anti-cancer medicine methotrexate.
- Particular care should be taken if you are using other antibiotics (neomycin) and oral anticoagulants (warfarin, coumarin, phenindione).
- Kaypen Tablet inactivates oral typhoid vaccine and should not be used together.
