Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

This medicine is generally recommended for pregnant women with iron deficiency. Consult your doctor for the appropriate dose during pregnancy.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Small amounts of iron and folate pass into breast milk. This is generally safe for breastfeeding infants. Consult your doctor for guidance.

Driving

Driving

This medicine does not typically affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Limit alcohol consumption as excessive alcohol can interfere with iron absorption and increase the risk of liver damage.

Directions for Use

Swallow the tablet whole with water. This medicine can be taken with or without food, though taking it with food may reduce stomach upset. For better absorption of iron, take it on an empty stomach if possible, but if it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take at the same time each day for consistency.

Storage and disposal

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date. Return unused medicine to a pharmacy for proper disposal.

Quick Tips

  • Dark stools are a normal and harmless side effect of iron
  • Take with vitamin C for better iron absorption
  • Avoid taking with coffee, tea, or dairy products
  • Regular blood tests will monitor your iron levels
  • Eat iron-rich foods like meat, spinach, and beans

Dosage

Overdose

Iron overdose can be serious and can be fatal, especially in young children who accidentally swallow this medicine. Keep it well out of the reach and sight of children at all times. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Ferrous ascorbate provides iron, which is essential for the production of hemoglobin and red blood cells. L-methylfolate provides folate in its active form, which is needed for cell division and DNA synthesis. Together, these ingredients address both iron and folate deficiencies that cause anemia.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Tell your doctor about all medicines you take. Iron can interact with some antibiotics, and folate may interact with certain medicines. Inform your doctor if you take any other medications, especially antacids, calcium supplements, or blood thinners.

Interactions with food items

Take this medicine with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take it with food. Avoid taking with coffee or tea as these may reduce iron absorption. Vitamin C helps iron absorption, so eating citrus fruits or taking vitamin C supplements may help.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
