Medical Description

Enzamide Capsule contains enzalutamide, which is used in the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) that has progressed on or after docetaxel therapy. It works by blocking the effects of hormones, leading to the death of cancer cells. The doctor determines the dose and duration of this treatment. Before starting, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, seizures, liver or kidney issues, or if you are taking any medications for infections. Other medicines can affect or be affected by this medication, so inform your doctor about all your medications. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It is vital for both males and females to use effective contraception during treatment to prevent pregnancy. You may be required to undergo regular monitoring of blood glucose levels while receiving treatment.

Uses

  • For the treatment adults with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) whose disease has progressed on or after Docetaxel therapy.

Driving

Talk to your doctor if

  • Enzamide Capsule is to be taken orally as directed by the physician
  • This capsule can be taken with or without food

Storage and disposal

Store Enzamide Capsule at room temperature (20-25°C). Store in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children. Protect from light. Do not use the product after expiry date. Do not throw medicine in wastewater or household waste.

Overdose

Visit a doctor or the nearest hospital immediately, in case of an overdose.

Missed a Dose

In case of a missed dose, take next dose at scheduled time. Do not take more doses than recommended.

How Does It Work?

Enzamide Capsule acts by inhibiting the function of androgens (hormones like testosterone). Enzalutamide inhibits the growth and division of prostate cancer cells by inhibiting androgens.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • CYP2C8 inhibitors like gemfibrozil increases the concentration of Enzalutamide
  • CYP3A4 inhibitor itraconazole increases the action of Enzalutamide
  • CYP2C8 and strong CYP3A4 inducer rifampin decreases effect of Enzalutamide
  • Enzalutamide decreases the synthesis of midazolam, warfarin, and Omeprazole
  • Simultaneous use of Enzalutamide with quinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide, antiarrhythmic medicinal products, methadone, moxifloxacin, antipsychotics can prolong the QT interval (Abnormal heart rhythm disorder with chaotic heart beats)

Other general Interactions

Patients with heart disease should use Enzalutamide with caution to avoid risk of abnormal heart beats Enzalutamide can increase the risk of developing other types of cancers

Males with female partners should use a condom or any effective contraception during treatment, and for 3 months after the last dose of Enzamide has been taken.
