Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

The Depsol Forte tablet exerts its mechanism of action by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help regulate mood and depression. Depsol Forte tablet contains Imipramine, which is considered a mixed reuptake inhibitor. It inhibits the reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin in the brain. Noradrenaline acts as both hormone and neurotransmitter in the brain. It regulates alertness, focuses attention, restlessness, and anxiety, whereas serotonin carries messages between nerve cells and regulates mood and anxiety. Thus by acting on these messengers, Depsol Forte tablets help relieve the symptoms of depression.

  • Depsol Forte tablets may diminish the antihypertensive effects of Guanethidine, Bethanidine, Reserpine, α-methyldopa, Clonidine.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Depsol Forte tablets, like many medicines, do not work straight away. For example, it may take several days or even weeks for some symptoms to improve. To begin with, some people find that this medicine may help them feel more calm and relaxed. Later (usually in two to four weeks), other symptoms should improve..

No habit-forming tendencies were reported with Depsol Forte tablets. But if you stop taking the medicine suddenly, you may experience nausea, insomnia, diarrhoea, excess salivation and anxiety. Also, abrupt cessation may cause your original symptoms very likely to return.

Depsol Forte tablets are not recommended for children below six years of age.. Elderly patients are more prone to hepatic and renal impairment, so dose adjustment and review is necessary. They should be prescribed lower doses than the recommended dosage.
