Medical Description

Cobanto-Plus capsule is used to support the treatment of nerve-related symptoms, including diabetic and peripheral neuropathy, and to address selected vitamin deficiencies. It contains a combination of alpha lipoic acid, folic acid, methylcobalamin, and pyridoxine hydrochloride. The alpha lipoic acid component helps limit oxidative stress, methylcobalamin supports nerve covering and repair, folic acid supports cell and red blood cell formation, and pyridoxine supports normal nerve signalling. The capsule is taken by mouth and swallowed whole with water, with or without food as advised.

  • Nutritional deficiencies: Folic acid, methylcobalamin, and pyridoxine help replenish nutrients needed for nerve function and healthy red blood cell formation.
  • Megaloblastic anaemia: Folic acid and methylcobalamin support normal red blood cell production when a relevant deficiency contributes to this condition.

How does this medicine work?

The alpha lipoic acid component acts as an antioxidant and may reduce oxidative stress affecting nerves. Methylcobalamin, an active form of vitamin B12, supports the protective covering and repair of nerve fibres. Folic acid supports cell division and red blood cell formation. Pyridoxine supports the production of chemical messengers needed for normal nerve function.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Cobanto-Plus capsule works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, tell your doctor if you use insulin or other diabetes medicines, thyroid medicines, seizure medicines such as phenytoin or phenobarbital, chemotherapy medicines such as capecitabine or fluorouracil, antacids, or mineral supplements. Alpha lipoic acid may lower blood sugar further and may lower thyroid hormone levels. Pyridoxine may reduce the effectiveness of phenytoin or phenobarbital. Antacids and mineral supplements may reduce absorption of some ingredients, while the antioxidant components may interfere with some chemotherapy treatments.

Interactions with food items
