Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or could become pregnant. Ivabradine is generally avoided in pregnancy, so your doctor will choose the safest treatment.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Your doctor will advise whether this combination is suitable or whether breastfeeding should be stopped.

Driving

Driving

Dizziness or temporary visual brightness can occur. Do not drive until your vision and alertness are normal.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Alcohol can worsen dizziness and low blood pressure. Ask your doctor before drinking.

Directions for Use

Take this tablet as a whole with sufficient water and use it exactly as prescribed. Follow your doctor's advice about taking it with food, and do not stop it suddenly.

Storage and disposal

Store the tablets in the original pack in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep them out of reach of children and discard them after the labelled expiry date.

Quick Tips

  • Check your blood pressure and pulse as advised by your doctor.
  • Rise slowly from sitting or lying down if you feel light-headed.
  • Seek urgent care for fainting, chest pain, severe breathlessness, or a very slow or irregular heartbeat.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose may cause a very slow heartbeat, severe low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, breathing difficulty, or worsening heart failure. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If a tablet is missed, take it when remembered unless the next prescribed time is near. If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Carvedilol blocks signals that make the heart beat faster and blood vessels tighten, lowering heart workload and blood pressure. Ivabradine slows the heart's natural pacing signal, reducing heart rate in suitable patients.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way carvedilol or ivabradine works or make the heartbeat too slow or irregular. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. In particular, tell them if you take verapamil, diltiazem, digoxin, medicines that affect heart rhythm, blood-pressure medicines, or strong medicines that affect liver enzymes.

Interactions with food items

Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice unless your doctor says it is suitable because it can increase ivabradine effects.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
