Medical Description

Bet gel is a topical product used for certain bacterial skin infections, including impetigo, infected boils, infected hair follicles and infected minor cuts or wounds. It contains a combination of clindamycin and nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that slows the growth of susceptible bacteria, while nicotinamide supports normal skin barrier function and may calm local irritation. Bet gel is for external use and is applied as a thin layer to clean, dry skin only as directed by a doctor; it is not for use inside the eyes, mouth, nose or other body openings.

Uses

  • Bacterial skin infections: Susceptible bacteria can cause impetigo, infected boils and infected hair follicles; clindamycin helps limit their growth on the affected skin.
  • Infected eczema or psoriasis: When these conditions become infected, the antibiotic component may help control susceptible bacteria after a doctor confirms the cause.
  • Minor skin wounds: Clindamycin may help prevent bacterial infection in small cuts, wounds, burns or ulcers when a doctor recommends it.

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use Bet gel during pregnancy only when the expected benefit justifies treatment.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Ask your doctor before using Bet gel while breastfeeding. Do not apply it on or near the nipple before feeding, and prevent the baby from contacting treated skin.

Directions for Use

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer of Bet gel exactly as advised. Wash your hands before and after application unless your hands are being treated. Keep it away from the eyes, lips, inside of the nose and other body openings. Avoid deep wounds or severe burns unless your doctor advises this. Do not cover the area with a tight dressing unless your doctor tells you to.

Storage and disposal

Store Bet gel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date. Dispose of unused product according to local guidance and do not share it with anyone else.

Quick Tips

  • Wash your hands before and after applying Bet gel.
  • Clean and dry the affected skin before applying a thin layer.
  • Keep towels, razors and clothing that touch the infected area separate until the infection settles.
  • Do not share Bet gel or use leftover antibiotic gel for a new rash.

Dosage

Overdose

If a large amount gets into the mouth or eyes by accident, rinse with water and contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you think you have used too much of this product, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one. Do not apply extra product to make up for it.

How does this medicine work?

Clindamycin stops susceptible bacteria from making proteins they need to grow and survive. Nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3, helps support the skin barrier and may reduce local inflammation. Together, these actions help limit bacterial growth and support healing of affected skin.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

No specific medicine interactions are known. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention other antibiotic creams, clindamycin products and medicines applied to the same area, because combined treatment may increase local irritation.
