Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S contains bethanechol as its active ingredient. Bethanechol belongs to a group of medications known as cholinergic. It also acts as a muscarinic agonist and acts by stimulating
muscarinic receptors on the smooth muscle fibres lining the gastrointestinal and urinary tract. Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is used in the treatment of urinary retention, which happens post-anaesthesia after major surgeries, due to certain medications and postpartum (after giving birth), prostate tumours, urinary tract tumours, Prune-belly syndrome (hereditary disorder causing loss of abdominal muscle) and in cases of the neurogenic bladder (loss of bladder control due to brain/spinal cord issues). Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S may cause side effects like headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, excessive salivation, stomach cramps and rapid heartbeat. Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is an oral tablet to be taken with water before meals. Caffeine consumption should be minimum, and alcohol consumption should be prohibited while taking this medicine. Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is to be taken as many times as prescribed by your doctor, depending on the severity of your condition. Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is usually not recommended for anyone below the age of 18 years.

- Hyperthyroidism,
- Blocked gastrointestinal tract,
- Parkinson’s disease,
- Peritonitis (inflammation of abdomen lining).

- Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is taken orally with water without food and as many times as prescribed by your doctor after evaluating your condition. Don’t chew or crush the tablet in powder form.
- Do not change the Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S dose without consultation with your physician.
- Do not stop Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S abruptly without consulting your physician.
- It is advised to always check for the expiry date before starting on the medication.

Interactions with other medicines
- Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S is not given along with/given with caution with
- Bupropion (antidepressant) - Increases the risk of seizures.
- Iohexol, iopamidol, and metrizamide (used for radiographic imaging) - can increase the risk of seizures.
- Tramadol (painkiller) - can increase the risk of seizures.
- Procainamide, quinidine (medication for irregular heartbeat) - Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S can decrease the efficacy of these medications.
Interactions with food items
- Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S has no reported cases of adverse food reactions. Diet can be regular unless advised otherwise by the physician.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited while on therapy with Bchol 25mg Tablet 10’S as it can increase the severity of side effects like blurry vision, nausea and dizziness.
