Medical Description

Aclopride-D tablet is used to relieve abdominal pain and cramps linked with muscle spasms and inflammation. It contains a combination of drotaverine, which relaxes spasming muscles in the stomach and intestine, and aceclofenac, an anti-inflammatory pain medicine. Drotaverine eases involuntary tightening, while aceclofenac reduces chemical signals that contribute to pain and swelling. Aclopride-D tablet is taken by mouth with or after food as prescribed by a doctor, and it does not treat every cause of abdominal pain.

Uses

  • Abdominal cramps: Painful tightening in the stomach or intestines can cause colicky discomfort; this combination eases the spasm and reduces associated pain.
  • Abdominal pain with inflammation: Aceclofenac reduces pain-related inflammation, while drotaverine helps relieve muscle spasm that can intensify discomfort.
  • Bloating-related discomfort: Intestinal spasms can trap gas and create pressure; relaxing these spasms may ease bloating when cramps are the cause.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use Aclopride-D tablet. Do not use it if you have an active stomach or intestinal ulcer or bleeding, or if aspirin or another anti-inflammatory pain medicine has caused allergy or breathing problems. Tell your doctor before use if you have severe heart, kidney or liver disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, dehydration or a history of stomach bleeding.

Side effects

  • Stomach upset: Aceclofenac can irritate the stomach lining, especially when taken without food. Report persistent stomach pain.
  • Dizziness: Drotaverine or aceclofenac may make you light-headed. Sit down safely and avoid driving until the feeling passes.
  • Nausea: The combination may cause queasiness as the stomach reacts to treatment. Seek medical advice if vomiting prevents fluid intake.
  • Low blood pressure: Drotaverine can relax blood vessels and cause weakness or faintness. Get help if you collapse or feel unable to stand.
  • Stomach bleeding: Aceclofenac can rarely cause serious bleeding. Get emergency medical help for black stools, vomiting blood or severe weakness.

How does this medicine work?

The drotaverine component relaxes involuntary muscles in the stomach and intestine, reducing spasms and cramps. The aceclofenac component reduces the formation of chemical signals involved in pain and inflammation. Together, they can relieve pain when muscle spasm and inflammation occur together, but they do not treat every cause of abdominal pain.

In particular, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines or aspirin can increase stomach bleeding; blood thinners and steroid medicines can also increase bleeding; blood-pressure medicines and diuretics may work less well and increase kidney risk; lithium levels can rise; methotrexate toxicity can increase; and other medicines that affect the kidneys may add to kidney problems.
