Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Eperisone is a muscle relaxant which operates on the brain and spinal cord's centres to ease muscle stiffness and spasms, as well as improve pain and muscle movement. Diclofenac is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent that acts by preventing the release of particular chemical messengers that induce pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Eperisone+Diclofenac may raise lithium plasma concentrations
- Eperisone+Diclofenac may cause digoxin plasma concentrations to rise
- Concomitant treatment with potassium-sparing diuretics, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, or trimethoprim may result in elevated serum potassium levels, which should be checked on a regular basis
- Concomitant treatment with anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines may enhance the risk of bleeding
- Eperisone+Diclofenac along with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors may raise the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding
- Eperisone+Diclofenac can reduce methotrexate clearance and so raise methotrexate levels
- Eperisone+Diclofenac may aggravate ciclosporin nephrotoxicity
- Eperisone+Diclofenac with tacrolimus may increase risk of nephrotoxicity
- Quinolones and Eperisone+Diclofenac may interact resulting in convulsions
- Eperisone+Diclofenac increases phenytoin plasma levels
- Colestipol and cholestyramine can cause diclofenac absorption to be delayed or decreased
- Cardiac glycosides with Eperisone+Diclofenac at the same time can worsen cardiac failure, lower GFR, and raise plasma glycoside levels
- Eperisone+Diclofenac should be avoided for 8-12 days following mifepristone administration since they can impair mifepristone's action
