Common side effects of this drug are:

Scaly skin
Dizziness
Dark-colored urine
Lethargy
Hemolytic anaemia (G6PD deficiency)

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

Precautions and Warnings of Chlorpropamide

Pregnancy

Can I take Chlorpropamide during pregnancy?

The medicine should not be used in pregnant women. Make sure that you check with your doctor if you are planning on getting pregnant or are pregnant. If you use this medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy, it can result in respiratory depression in the new-born baby. During pregnancy, you need insulin to treat your diabetes so the doctor may change your treatment.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Chlorpropamide while breastfeeding?

It is not advised to breastfeed while taking this medicine.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Chlorpropamide?

It can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. Be cautious while driving before you take the medicine.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Chlorpropamide?

Patient should avoid intake of excess alcohol. It may affect the liver.

If you forget to take a dose, follow the regular dosage schedule. Do not take a double dose.
