It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in combination with diet and exercise.

Contraindications of Ziten 20 MG

If you are allergic to teneligliptin or other ingredients of this medicine.
If you have metabolism-related problems called ketosis (when the body utilises fats for energy and not sugar).
If you have type1 diabetes mellitus.
If you suffer from infection and have experienced a diabetic coma (an emergency condition in which blood sugar gets too high).
If you are undergoing surgery or suffering from a serious physical injury, these may require insulin for controlling blood sugar.
If you have a history of pancreatitis.

Can I drive after consuming the Ziten 20 mg Tablet?

This medicine is known to cause low blood sugar levels which can impair driving ability.
Always keep sugar, juice or a bar of chocolate in the car while driving.
In case you experience the symptoms of low blood glucose levels like dizziness, drowsiness, vision disturbances and sweating, stop driving and have sugar/ juice.
Avoid consuming sugar-free items at such episodes.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol while taking this medicine?

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with this medicine as it affects blood glucose levels.
It decreases or increases the blood sugar level depending on the quantity and frequency of alcohol consumption.
It increases the appetite and you tend to consume more calories and it interferes with the way this medicine works.
Alcohol increases the risk of developing the serious side effect of pancreatitis.

You have serious liver and kidney function problems.
You have a history of pancreatitis or develop sudden pain in the stomach or back, stop the medicine and report to the hospital.
You have malnutrition, are dieting, taking irregular meals, doing vigorous muscle exercise and consuming too much alcohol, then you may experience low blood sugar.
You have undergone surgery on the stomach or intestine.
You have heart problems like irregular heart rhythm and heart failure as it may increase the symptoms.
You are using other medicines to treat diabetes like Insulin and Glimepiride, a drastic fall in blood glucose occurs.

It increases insulin synthesis by the pancreas, thereby reducing glucose levels.

Directions for Use of Ziten 20 MG

Swallow it as a whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush, chew or break the tablet. Avoid taking the medicine if it has expired.

Some medicines affect the way the Ziten 20mg tablet works or this medicine itself reduces the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.

Dosage of Ziten 20 MG

Overdose

An overdose of this medicine leads to low blood sugar levels and you may experience symptoms like dizziness, fainting, sweating and tremors.
If you have the blood glucometer with you, test and confirm.
Whether you test the levels or not, it is important to take glucose water/juice/eat sugar or chocolates and rush to the doctor.

Missed a Dose

Missing a dose is not advised as it leads to fluctuations in blood sugar.
If you have missed taking a dose of the medicine, take it as soon as you remember.
If it's time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule.
Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one as taking a double dose can cause a drastic fall in blood glucose which is dangerous.
