Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Inform your doctor about any medications you may take while using Teram P tablets. The following medicines interact with Teram P tablets and cause adverse effects.
- Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or use within 14 days of using these medicines is contraindicated. This combination can lead to a potentially fatal side effect called serotonin syndrome. Examples of MAOIs include selegiline, rasagiline, etc., which are all used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
- Teram P tablets should not be used with other medicines that increase serotonin levels in the brain (serotonergic drugs). Examples include antidepressants, certain antibiotics and antifungals, calcium channel blockers, linezolid etc.
- Teram P tablets should not be used concomitantly with any central nervous system (CNS) depressant. This includes alcohol, benzodiazepines (clonazepam and alprazolam), and other opioids (morphine and fentanyl). It can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and even death.
- Certain enzyme systems metabolise Teram P tablets. Medicines that affect these enzymes are contraindicated, as they can either cause an increase or decrease in tramadol concentrations, resulting in increased side effects or inactivation, respectively.
- Do not use Teram P tablets with other opioid agonists or antagonists, as they can precipitate withdrawal symptoms.
- Teram P tablets can induce seizures. Do not use other medicines known to decrease the seizure threshold.
