Neorof 1 % Description
Neorof Injection is used to administer general anaesthesia. Its active ingredient is propofol. It is issued only by an anaesthetist at the time of major surgeries to render the patient unconscious an
d safely carry out any surgical procedure. Neorof can also maintain the anaesthesia for a longer duration during surgery, known as maintenance. In some cases, such as when patients need additional support to breathe in the form of a ventilator or tube, a general anaesthetic agent is required to ensure the effective functioning of the device. Sometimes for minor procedures, Neorof can be used only to provide pain relief while the patient is conscious. This is an intravenous injection and is only administered by trained medical professionals.

Contraindications of Neorof 1 %
- If you have a known hypersensitivity to propofol or any of its components.
- If you are allergic to eggs, egg products, soybeans, or soy products.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Neorof 1 %
- Shake well before use.
- Do not use if there is clumping or aggregation, if large droplets are seen, or if there are other forms of phase separation indicating that the stability of the product has been compromised.
- Slight creaming may be visible upon prolonged standing, but it should disappear on shaking.
- Neorof Injection must be prepared for use just before the start of each anaesthetic/sedative procedure.
- The vial rubber stopper should be disinfected using 70% isopropyl alcohol.
- Neorof Injection should be drawn into a sterile syringe immediately after a vial is opened.
- When withdrawing Neorof Injection from vials, a sterile vent spike should be used.
- The syringe should be labelled with details, including when the vial was opened.
- The administration should commence promptly and be completed within 12 hours after the vial has been opened.

Interactions with other medicines
- Other medications that affect blood pressure or heart rhythm
- Medications that cause slowing down respiratory rate, such as opioids.
Interactions with food items
- The patient must be fasting for 12 hours before surgery for general anaesthesia or as advised by the physician for individual procedures.
