Medical Description

Meloprax tablet is a prescription medication. It is used to manage mood disorders such as anxiety disorders and depression. All mood disorders affect the way one processes feelings. There is no specific reason behind them, and sometimes common emotional reactions like worry, anger, etc., can trigger them. Reducing the frequency of epilepsy (seizures) is one of the main uses of Meloprax tablets. The main element of the Meloprax tablet is clonazepam. The mode of action of Meloprax tablets is by decreasing the excess action of exciting nerve cells in the brain. It functions by balancing certain chemical messengers and generating sensations of calm and well-being. The dosage of Meloprax tablets should be monitored as it may lead to physical dependence (return of symptoms when the medicine is stopped). These tablets can also generate behavioural changes, sudden mood changes, suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Somnolence, tiredness, dizziness, etc., are a few of the expected side effects of Meloprax tablets. Abruptly discontinuing Meloprax tablets can result in withdrawal symptoms like tremors, sweating, sickness, muscle ache, etc.

How Does It Work?

The Meloprax tablet consists of a single active ingredient: clonazepam. It is an antidepressant medicine. It is also a tranquilliser (lowers symptoms of anxiety). It works by improving GABA activity (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) in the brain. It reduces the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve fibres in the body. It also has antiepileptic (lowers seizures) and sedation properties. However, it does not change the levels of GABA in the brain.
