Other General Warnings

• You have liver problems or notice symptoms like unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or stomach pain, as serious liver conditions, including a fatty liver and lactic acidosis (a dangerous buildup of acid in the blood), have been reported and can be life-threatening.
• You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine with didanosine. This combination has been linked to fatal lactic acidosis in pregnant women.
• You experience stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting, especially if you are taking stavudine and didanosine, as these can be signs of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), which can be serious or even fatal.
• You are co-infected with HIV and hepatitis B, and you stop taking lamivudine, your liver disease could get worse suddenly. Your doctor should monitor your liver closely with blood tests and possibly start another hepatitis B treatment if needed.

• Lamistar tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it whole with a glass of water.
• It should be taken without meals.
• It is best to take it at a fixed time for optimal results, and you should not consume it more than prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Lamistar tablet in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Stavudine resembles a natural part of the virus’s genetic code, and when the virus attempts to utilise it for multiplication, the process is blocked. This helps slow down the spread of the virus, giving your immune system a better chance to stay strong and fight infections.

Interactions with other medicines

• Avoid taking Lamistar tablet together with zidovudine, as they can interfere with each other’s action inside the body and reduce their effectiveness.
• Be cautious if you are taking doxorubicin or ribavirin with this medicine, as they may interact with its effects.
• If you are taking Lamistar tablet, please inform your doctor about all other medications you are using, especially those that are cleared by the kidneys, such as trimethoprim (often combined with sulfamethoxazole). These may affect how this medicine works in your body.
• Taking Lamistar tablet with trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMX) once daily may increase lamivudine levels, but no dose adjustment is usually necessary.
• Do not take this medicine with zalcitabine, as they may interact and prevent each other from working properly.
