Glenstim Peg Injection is used to improve the growth of white blood cells in the body. The primary use of Glenstim Peg Injection is to prevent infections after chemotherapy for cancerous tumours. Thi
s medicine is given to patients whose immune systems cannot fight the infection because of low white blood cell count. This injection consists of granulocyte stimulating growth factor as its main ingredients. Growth factors are groups of proteins that stimulate the growth of specific tissues in the body. The mode of action of Glenstim Peg Injection is to stimulate the bone marrow to increase the production of white blood cells and protect the body against infections. Weakness, headache, bone pain, rash, etc., are some of the side effects of Glenstim Peg Injection. If these side effects do not subside or increase in severity, consult the doctor. Try to follow the doctor’s directions for using the Glenstim Peg Injection. This injection should be given only by a doctor or a nurse. Do not self-administer this injection. The patient may notice swelling, lump, bruise, or pain at the site of the injection. They will subside once you get used to the medicine in a few weeks. Regular blood tests are done to check to the number of total blood cells in the body and bone density while using this medicine. This injection is not given to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Effective contraception is recommended to avoid pregnancy.

Uses of Glenstim Peg 6 MG
- As per CDSCO, the Glenstim Peg Injection is used
- In patients with infection due to a low number of white blood cells.
- Taking anti-cancer medications causes white blood cells to die and lowers their number in those with fever.
- To lower the time it takes for the neutrophils to develop after treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) - a type of blood cancer.
- After a bone marrow transplantation.
- In symptomatic patients with congenital neutropenia‚ cyclic neutropenia‚ or idiopathic neutropenia - conditions with low white blood cell or the neutrophil count.
Contraindications of Glenstim Peg 6 MG
- If you have a known hypersensitive reaction to the Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor or any other components of this injection.
- If you have a history of lung disorders such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
- If you have any severe kidney failure.
- If you are diagnosed with low blood pressure, low albumin, oedema, or anaemia. This injection can cause capillary leak syndrome, which can be life-threatening.
- If you have splenomegaly or rupture of the spleen.
- If you are diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome or chronic myelogenous leukaemia (types of blood cell disorders).
- If you have a severely low platelet count.
- If you are diagnosed with Aortitis, inflammation of the aorta, a major blood vessel.
- If you are diagnosed with Sickle cell anaemia (condition of red blood cells)

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Glenstim Peg 6 MG
- Glenstim Peg Injection is given to the patient in the hospital by the doctor or healthcare professional.
- Glenstim Peg Injection infusion is given intravenously (directly into the veins) or subcutaneously (into the fatty layer).
- Do not take this injection by yourself intravenously.
- For subcutaneous injections, use this injection in a clean and dry area.
- If you have any doubts about injecting yourself, ask your doctor.
- Disinfect the place where you are taking this injection.
- It should not be diluted with water.
- Follow the instructions given by the doctor during the infusion and for aftercare.
- If you have any breathing problems, rash, or swelling, inform your doctor immediately.

Interactions with other medicines
- Using Glenstim Peg Injection and other chemotherapy medications that suppress the growth of white blood cells is not recommended. The exact safety and efficacy of using these medicines together are not established. It is advised to maintain at least a gap of 24 hours between using these medications.
