Uses
- According to the CDSCO, it is used to treat people who have co-morbid depression and anxiety.
Contraindications
- If you are on an MAOI, after you have stopped using MAOIs, you should not take this medicine for at least 14 days
- If the patient is taking Thioridazine (a medicine used to treat schizophrenia)
- If the patient is on Pimozide
- If you have a known allergy to Fordep tablet or any of the other ingredients in this medicine

Other General Warnings
- You have seizures because this medicine has the potential to trigger seizures; it should be used with caution in epilepsy patients.
- You get suicidal thoughts as Clonazepam has been linked to suicide ideation. Individuals who have been administered this therapy for a more extended period should be continuously observed, and any changes in behaviour should be reported to their doctor.
- You have hyponatremia because this medicine may lower sodium levels in the body; it should be used with caution in patients who are taking diuretics.
- You experience any bone discomfort. The use of this medication has been linked to an increased risk of bone fractures.
- You are obese; you should use Clonazepam with caution. During therapy with this medicine, you may need to keep a close eye on your symptoms. If necessary, your doctor may increase the dose intervals.
- You have Porphyria as Clonazepam can make porphyria symptoms worse (a group of disorders that affect the skin or nervous system)..
Directions for Use
- Follow your doctor's directions for this medication's dosage and duration.
- Swallow the whole tablet. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet.
- Take the tablet with or without food, but it is preferable if you do so at the same time each day.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Hyponatremia is a side effect of Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet. There may be additive hyponatremic effects when a loop diuretic (bumetanide, furosemide, torsemide) is used in conjunction; monitor for hyponatremia.
- The serotonin reuptake inhibitor Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet works by blocking serotonin reuptake. Serotonin syndrome can occur when used with a serotonin agonist (buspirone).
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet inhibits dextromethorphan metabolism; a patient receiving this combination experienced visual hallucinations; watch for serotonin syndrome.
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet may impede haloperidol metabolism and cause extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS); patients should be monitored for EPS if a combination is taken.
- Nonselective MAOIs (isocarboxazid, phenelzine) should not be combined with Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet. There have been reports of fatal responses. Two weeks after stopping fluoxetine, wait two weeks before starting an MAOI, and two weeks after stopping an MAOI, wait two weeks before starting fluoxetine.
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet inhibits serotonin reuptake; serotonin syndrome can occur when combined with other reuptake inhibitors (nefazodone, sibutramine). Alongside nefazodone, keep an eye on the patient's response and avoid taking it with sibutramine.
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet is taken with selegiline; it has been documented to cause mania or hypertension; this combination should be avoided.
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet is coupled with tramadol (which has serotonin-like properties), serotonin syndrome can occur; keep an eye on it.
- Fordep Plus 12.5mg/0.5mg tablet may affect warfarin's hypoprothrombinemia response; keep an eye on it.
