Fenstud 50mcg Transdermal Patch
Description
Fenstud is a prescription medication. It is used in the management of chronic, debilitating pain that requires continuous management. The active component of Fenstud is Fentanyl. This medication is i
n the form of a transdermal patch. This medication releases 50mcg of Fentanyl per hour and lasts for 72 hours/ 3days. Chronic, intractable pain is associated with conditions like cancer and degenerative conditions. These conditions require continuous pain management for an extended period of time, often involving opioid medications. Fentanyl is a potent opioid medication. Fentanyl is recommended for use in patients who are opioid-tolerant and require around-the-clock, everyday pain management for their conditions. This medication has serious misuse, abuse, and addictive potential even at the therapeutic dosage. It should be reserved for use only in patients in whom alternate modes of analgesia (pain relief) are ineffective, not tolerated, or inadequate. Patients on this medication require careful monitoring. Use this medication as prescribed by your doctor. Do not abruptly start or stop this medication as it may result in significant withdrawal effects. Do not increase or decrease the usage of this medication without the directions of your doctor. Use this medication for the recommended period of time for optimal effects.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use
- Use this medication as prescribed by your doctor.
- A transdermal patch is meant to be applied directly to the skin.
- Recommended areas of application include chest, back, upper arms, and flanks.
- Prior to applying, ensure that the skin is non-irritated and does not have any injuries, cuts, or rashes.
- Clean the area with water and allow it to completely dry. Do not use any skin irritants to clean the region.
- Remove the protective layer, and apply it with a sticky surface down, completely flat against the skin.
- Take care to not wet the skin around the patch as it may decrease its adhesive ability.
- Do not remove the patch until it is time to change as recommended by your doctor.
- Ensure strict precautions to prevent exposure of the patch to mucosa and eyes.
- If multiple patches are recommended, do not overlap them.
- If there are any issues with adhesiveness, the patch can be reinforced with medical tape over the patch.
- If a patch falls off on its own, dispose of it appropriately. You can re-apply another patch as per your doctor’s recommendations to a different site.
- The person who is administering the patch to the patient should thoroughly wash their hands prior to and after application.
- Do not expose the area to which the patch is applied to any forms of heat, including hot water bags, heating pads, electric blankets, etc.
