Medical Description

Everan injection is used for short-term relief of pain, inflammation and swelling in joints and muscles, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicine that reduces the chemical signals responsible for pain, redness and swelling. By reducing these signals, diclofenac can make movement more comfortable during a painful flare. Everan injection is given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic and is not for self-injection.

Uses

  • Joint and muscle pain: Diclofenac reduces pain, inflammation and swelling in affected muscles or joints, helping improve comfort during short-term prescribed treatment.
  • Osteoarthritis pain: Helps reduce pain and stiffness linked with wear-related joint inflammation, making movement more comfortable for people with osteoarthritis.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis pain: Reduces inflammatory joint pain and swelling as part of prescribed treatment for people with rheumatoid arthritis.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use it. Do not use it if aspirin or another anti-inflammatory pain medicine has caused asthma, hives or swelling, or if you have an active stomach ulcer or bleeding. Avoid it if you have severe heart disease or have recently had heart bypass surgery. Do not use it during pregnancy unless your doctor decides that the benefit outweighs the risk.

Side effects

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Diclofenac should generally be avoided during pregnancy, especially later pregnancy, unless your doctor specifically decides it is needed. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or trying to conceive.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Diclofenac may pass into breast milk and may harm the baby. Do not use Everan injection while breastfeeding unless your doctor specifically advises it.

Driving

Driving

Everan injection may cause dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision or reduced alertness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol unless your doctor says it is suitable, because it can increase stomach irritation and bleeding.

Directions for Use

This injection will be given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic. Do not self-inject. Everan injection is intended for short-term use under medical supervision. Tell the healthcare professional about all health conditions and medicines before it is given.

Storage and disposal

The clinic will store Everan injection under the required conditions and dispose of unused medicine safely. Do not store or reuse an opened injection at home.

Quick Tips

  • Tell the doctor about any past stomach ulcer, asthma, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or liver disease.
  • Do not use another anti-inflammatory pain medicine unless your doctor approves it.
  • Report black stools, vomiting blood, unusual bruising or severe stomach pain urgently.
  • Avoid driving if you feel dizzy, sleepy or have blurred vision.
  • Use this injection only for the period advised by the doctor.

Dosage

Overdose

Too much diclofenac can cause severe stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness, bleeding or reduced urine. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Diclofenac blocks the formation of chemical messengers that make tissues painful, red and swollen. This reduces inflammation and can improve movement in painful joints and muscles.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Everan injection works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, tell them about blood thinners such as heparin or fondaparinux, medicines that reduce platelet clotting, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, tacrolimus, methotrexate, medicines for high blood pressure, water tablets, lithium and some antidepressants. These combinations can increase bleeding, strain the kidneys, raise lithium or methotrexate levels, or reduce blood-pressure control.

Interactions with food items

Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach irritation and bleeding with diclofenac. Ask your doctor whether alcohol should be avoided.
