Eskuf Syrup 100ml Description

Eskuf Syrup is a syrup formulation manufactured by Laborate Pharmaceuticals India Ltd. It is used for diarrhoea, cough, cold, bronchitis and pain. It is from the drug class of Antihistamine and anti

allergic drugs, an opioid analgesic and cough & cold preparations. The composition of Eskuf Syrup is Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 MG and Codeine phosphate 10 MG /5ML. Chlorpheniramine maleate is used for relieving allergy signs. Codeine phosphate is an opioid analgesic used to treat cough, pain and diarrhoea. This syrup can be taken with or without food. It should be taken at a fixed time daily. Some common side effects of Eskuf Syrup are lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness and vomiting. If you develop symptoms like chest tightness, wheezing, discolouration of the skin, swelling, contact a doctor.

Pregnancy

Can I take Eskuf syrup during pregnancy?

Eskuf Syrup contains Codeine which is a category C drug, which means it can potentially affect the foetus and can be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek advice from an expert in cases of emergency. There are limited animal and human studies, which have shown some effects on the foetus, so it can't be said that it is safe for the foetus. At the same time, Chlorpheniramine maleate is a category B drug which means that animal studies have shown little to no effect on the foetus. Seek advice from an expert in cases of emergency. The doctor will check the benefit to risk ratio before prescribing it to the pregnant female.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Eskuf Syrup while breastfeeding?

Eskuf Syrup is not safe to be taken while breastfeeding as it passes through mother's milk in a significant amount that can affect the baby. It can cause sleepiness, dizziness, serious breathing issues etc. Breastfed babies should be closely monitored as not many studies have been done, and minimal information is available. The doctor will check the benefit to risk ratio before prescribing it to the lactating female.

Driving

Can I drive if I have taken Eskuf Syrup?

No. You should not drive while using Eskuf Syrup as it causes side effects that can cause sleepiness, dizziness, difficulty in concentration and fatigue. It works on the CNS, which hinders the mental and physical being of the person. So, one should not perform activities that require mental alertness and physical strength, such as driving.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with the Eskuf Syrup?

No, the patient should not consume alcohol with the syrup as it intensifies the effect of drowsiness and dizziness.

Grapefruit interacts with Codeine and reduces the analgesic effect.
Eskuf Syrup is advised not to be taken with alcohol, as the syrup works on CNS and alcohol increases the effect of drowsiness.

Storage and disposal of Eskuf Syrup 100ml

Store Eskuf Syrup at room temperature (15 to 30 degrees Celsius), away from direct heat and light in a cool place. Do not freeze it and keep them away from pets and children.
