Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Dermiflox Cream contains a combination of ketoconazole, tolnaftate, clobetasol, neomycin and clioquinol/iodochlorhydroxyquin as active substances.
- Ketoconazole is an antifungal medicine that works by preventing the formation of a fungal or yeast cell wall component. This leads to the formation of a defective cell wall which ultimately kills the infection-causing fungus or yeast.
- Tolnaftate is an anti-fungal medicine.
- Neomycin is an antibacterial medicine that works by stopping the formation of proteins in bacteria. This leads to the death of infection-causing bacteria.
- Clioquinol/iodochlorhydroxyquin reduces skin infections caused by bacteria. It prevents certain chemicals required in the formation of the genetic material of bacteria resulting in the death of infection-causing bacteria. It is also effective against some fungal skin infections.
- Clobetasol is a steroid that acts by blocking the production of a natural substance called prostaglandin, which is responsible for itching, swelling and redness.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Dermiflox Cream is meant for external application on the skin and thus is less likely to interact with other medicines taken orally.
- However, it may interact with other topically applied medicine. Discuss with your doctor if you are applying any other medicines to the skin.
