Medical Description
Clobium Suspension is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of various states of anxiety and refractory seizures(increased electrical activity in the brain). This medicine is used for both sudden anxiety attacks and a chronic anxiety state. For seizures, this medicine should only be used along with other seizure medication. It is not to be used as the only treatment for a seizure disorder.
Clobium Suspension is composed of clobazam as its active ingredient. It is a tranquilliser(medicine that promotes calmness and reduces fear). It works by increasing the levels of certain chemical substances in the brain, which helps to lower the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It is responsible for its antiepileptic (lowers seizures) and calming properties.
This medicine causes physical dependence(causes physical symptoms if stopped using or used in low dose) in case of long term use. So, it is important to monitor the dosage. Moreover, you should not stop using this medicine suddenly as it can cause withdrawal symptoms, like muscle tremors, sweating, nausea, muscle pain, etc. Clobium Suspension can cause serious breathing problems when used with certain medicines. Inform your doctor before taking other medicines with it.
Uses
- As per CDSCO, Clobium Suspension is used for,
- Treatment of the symptoms associated with acute(sudden) or chronic (long term) anxiety states.
- Additional therapy in patients with refractory epilepsy or a seizure disorder.
Contraindications
If you are allergic to any component of Clobium Suspension.
If you have been diagnosed with severe depression or are currently under treatment, consult your doctor first.
If you are using other similar medicines like diazepam, it can cause serious side effects.
If you are pregnant.
Thai medicine is not suitable for children under 2 years.

Talk to your doctor if
- You are currently using birth control pills. This medicine reduces its effects.
- You have any skin allergies or skin conditions after using this medicine.
- You have suddenly stopped using it and are having withdrawal symptoms such as sweating, stuffy nose, vomiting, nausea, etc. The dose of this medicine needs to be slowly tapered.
- You have a surgery or a dental procedure planned.
- You are an elderly person over 65 years of age. Clobium Suspension can cause exaggerated side effects due to slow metabolism.
- You have a history of severe kidney or liver impairment.
- You have a history of addiction. This is a habit-forming medicine.
- You are taking any herbal or ayurvedic supplements. Some can cause serious side effects.
- You have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) or sleep apnea.
Directions for Use
- Take the Clobium Suspension exactly as directed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the dosage of Clobium Suspension, even if you cannot notice its effects.
- You can take Clobium with or without consuming food.
- Do not take Clobium with other medications without informing your doctor.
- Do not take if the package has been opened.
- Do not suddenly stop taking Clobium medication, as it can have adverse effects.
Storage and disposal
Store the Clobium Suspension in dry conditions.
Keep this away from wet surfaces, direct sunlight, and humid conditions.
Dispose of the medicine package carefully after using it.
Throw Clobium away if the package has been opened.
Check the expiration date before taking the tablet.
Do not use it if this medicine is past the expiration date.
Keep Clobium Suspension away from children and pets.

Overdose
- Clobium Suspension overdose can cause symptoms like extreme drowsiness, dizziness, problems with coordination, confusion, loss of balance, difficulty speaking, yellowing of eyes and skin (due to liver failure), vomiting, lack of appetite, shallow breathing, seizures, and loss of consciousness. If you overdose on Clobium medicine and experience any of these symptoms, immediately seek emergency medical treatment from a nearby hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it's already time to take the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next Clobium tablet. Do not take both of them together, as it can cause an overdose. Talk to your doctor if you have any confusion about dosage.

How Does It Work?
Clobium Suspension is composed of a single active ingredient, clobazam. It belongs to the class of benzodiazepines (reduces excess activity of the brain) or tranquillisers (medicine that promotes calmness and reduces fear). It works by increasing the levels of certain chemical substances in the brain called GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid), which helps to lower the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It has antiepileptic(lowers seizures) and calming properties.

Interactions with other medicines
- Clobium Suspension can interact with other medicines that manage depression, like sertraline, fluoxetine, etc., and cause excessive side effects.
- If you are using this medicine, try not to use medicine like opioid pain relievers, allergy medicine, cold or cough medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, etc., that can cause increased drowsiness.
- This medicine can reduce the effects of certain antifungal medicines.
- Clobium Suspension can also reduce the effectiveness of hormonal birth control, increasing the chances of pregnancy.
Interactions with food items
- Clobium Suspension does not have any known serious interactions with food. It can be taken before or after consuming a meal.
