Cepodem Xp 625mg Tablet Description
Cepodem XP 625 tablet contains a combination of cefpodoxime and clavulanic acid, belonging to the antibiotic class of medicine. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the throat/neck
, lungs, ear, urinary tract and skin. It works by inhibiting the formation of cell walls and killing the various susceptible bacterial organisms. Take Cepodem XP 625 as prescribed by your doctor. The common side effects of Cepodem XP 625 tablet is diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and gas. If you feel the side effects persist or the condition worsens, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Cepodem XP 625 tablet is used to treat various bacterial infections such as urinary tract, lungs, throat, skin, ear, airways and reproductive tract.
Contraindications of Cepodem Xp 625mg Tablet
- If you have an allergy to Cefpodoxime, Clavulanic acid or any of the ingredient of Cepodem XP 625 tablet.
- If you are allergic to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics.
- If you have an infection that is caused by the bacteria Clostridium difficile.
- If you have liver or kidney problems.
- If you are suffering from fits.

Mode of Action of Cepodem Xp 625mg Tablet
How Does It Work?
- Cefpodoxime controls the growth of bacteria and kills them by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. However, the bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) that can destroy Cefpodoxime.
- Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Cefpodoxime to function optimally.
Directions for Use of Cepodem Xp 625mg Tablet
Cepodem XP 625 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor....
Interactions of Cepodem Xp 625mg Tablet
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of acid-lowering medicines like antacids, ranitidine, cimetidine with Cepodem XP 625 tablet decrease the effect of this medicine.
- Concomitant use of Probenecid with Cepodem XP 625 tablet increases the effect of this medicine.
- When medicines known to cause harm to the kidney such as amphotericin-B, vancomycin, amikacin are administered along with Cepodem XP 625 tablet may increase the risk of kidney diseases.
- Discuss with your doctor about any other medicines, herbal preparations and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any possible interactions.

- Store Cepodem XP 625 tablet in a cool and dry place.

Missed a Dose
- It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in the failure of therapy.
- If you have missed any dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
- Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
