Medical Description
Cefox injection is an antibiotic used in hospital care for serious bacterial infections affecting areas such as the brain, lungs, ears, abdomen, urinary tract, skin, bones, joints, blood and heart, and it may help prevent infection around surgery. It contains cefotaxime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, a group of medicines that targets many bacteria. Cefotaxime stops bacteria from building the protective cell wall they need to survive, allowing the body's immune system to clear the remaining infection. Cefox injection is given into a vein or muscle by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic when injectable treatment is needed.
