Uses
- As per CDSCO, Bicox Tablet is used for the treatment of tuberculosis infection.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to any component of Bicox Tablet. i.e., Isoniazid, Rifampicin.
- If you have any vision complaints like optic neuritis.
- If you have a history of alcohol consumption.
- If you have gou (bone issues)
- If you have peripheral neuropathy (pain caused by damage to the nerves)
- If you have liver disease.
- If you have kidney disease.
- If you are using antiviral medicines like HIV medicines.
Side effects
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Orange coloured urine, sweat, tears or saliva
- Rash
- Muscle and joint pain
- Lack of energy

Other General Warnings
- You have any allergic reactions after taking Bicox Tablet.
- You experience any severe side effects persistently. You have tingling sensations or nerve pain or damage.
- You experience worsening of symptoms.
- You want to stop the medication. Do not suddenly stop taking Bicox Tablet, as it can lead to medication resistance.
- You are taking oral contraceptive pills. Bicox Tablets may reduce their effectiveness, so try to use other methods of contraception like condoms, diaphragms, etc.
- You are on other medication. Do not take Bicox Tablet with other medications without informing your doctor. Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and non-prescription medications, herbal products, vitamins and nutritional supplements you are consuming or plan to take as there is a chance of interaction.
Directions for Use
- Take Bicox Tablet exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
- Take Bicox Tablet on a regular schedule, preferably at the same time every day.
- Swallow the whole tablet orally with a full glass of water. Do not break, chew or crush the tablet.
- You can take the Bicox Tablet before or after consuming food or as prescribed by your doctor.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Interaction of Bicox Tablet with Phenytoin (anti-seizure medicine) or disulfiram (for alcoholism) will increase the level of these medicines in the blood and cause adverse effects.
- Interaction of Bicox Tablet with anti- HIV medication can decrease the efficacy of the antiviral medication and may lead to viral resistance.
- Interaction of Bicox Tablet with oral contraceptives, blood thinners (warfarin), certain diabetic medicines (sulfonylureas), and methadone can decrease the level of these medicines in the blood.
- Interaction with medicines like corticosteroids- prednisolone, methylprednisolone, and dexamethasone can decrease the plasma levels of Isoniazid by increasing its metabolic and excretion.
Interactions with food items
- You can continue with the usual diet unless instructed.
