Medical Description
Asthakind Expectorant Sugar-Free is a combination medicine used to treat wet coughs (chesty coughs) often caused by asthma, bronchitis, or other respiratory infections. It contains bromhexine, guaifenesin, and terbutaline, which work together to ease breathing and help you cough out mucus more easily.
Bromhexine acts as a mucolytic agent, which means it thins and loosens thick mucus in your airways so it can be expelled more easily. Guaifenesin works as an expectorant, increasing the volume and reducing the stickiness of sputum so that coughing becomes more effective. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles in your airway walls, helping widen the air passages and making breathing easier.
Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration for taking Asthakind Expectorant Sugar-Free. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions exactly, take it regularly, and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve before it ends. Do not stop or change the dosage on your own.
Like any medicine, Asthakind Expectorant Sugar-Free may cause side effects in some people. Common ones include headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach upset, tremors, fast heartbeat, rash, or sweating. If you experience severe or persistent symptoms, or symptoms like difficulty breathing, chest pain, or swelling, contact your doctor right away.
Before using this medicine, inform your doctor about your full health history, including any heart, liver, or kidney problems, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, epilepsy, or if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Also, tell your doctor about all other medications, supplements, or herbal products you are using to avoid harmful interactions.
According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. These medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old. For children above that age, any use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Asthakind Expectorant sugar-free works by the combined action of its components: terbutaline, guaifenesin and bromhexine.
- Terbutaline has bronchodilator properties. It relaxes the muscles of the airways and inhibits the release of inflammation-causing chemical substances. Thereby, it improves airflow to the lungs and makes breathing easier.
- Guaifenesin is an expectorant, so it helps to thin the mucus in the airways and makes it easier to cough out and clear the airways.
- Bromhexine helps in reducing the mucous by boosting the production of phlegm in the respiratory tract and aids to make the mucus thinner and less sticky. Therefore, it makes the expulsion of cough easier.
